Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott apologised'for breaking the law after she is caught drinking M&S mojito on a train in London

Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott apologised 'sincerely' after she was seen drinking a £2 mojito from Marks and Spencer while on a London Overground train through north London (pictured main). Transport for London introduced an alcohol ban on all public transport in the capital in 2008. Ms Abbott has since apologised for her actions, tweeting (inset): 'A photo of me drinking from a can on M&S mojito on the Overground has been circulated. I sincerely apologise for drinking on TFL.' Reacting to the statement, Tottenham MP David Lammy tweeted: 'Jah Rastafari! Why was the rum not Jamaican?' The gaffe is a latest from the Shadow Home Secretary, who has previously faced criticism after saying an extra 10,000 police officers would cost £300,000 on LBC, before correcting herself by saying they would cost 'about £80million'.
