INCONCLUSIVE FC: PDP 4:1 APC

Thus far, five state guber have been declared inconclusive; Bauchi, Adamawa, Plateau, Sokoto and Kano. Of these five states, the Peoples Democratic Party has maintained a slim lead in four states.



UPDATE

In the early hours of this morning, Darius Ishaku, the incumbent governor of Taraba state, was re-elected for another four years in office. He defeated APC's Sani Danldadi with over 150,000 votes.
QUICK FACT: No other party has governed in Taraba since 1999 asides the PDP.

Before you went to bed last night, the PDP had won eight states, while the APC had 13 states to its flag.


KANO ELECTION INCONCLUSIVE

INEC has declared as inconclusive governorship election held in Kano. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the PDP candidate, had more votes than the incumbent state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, with a slim margin. He got 1,014,474 votes while Ganduje got 987,810, with a margin of 26,655 votes.


OKOROCHA SUFFERS SETBACK

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed the name of Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state, from the list of senators-elect. Full story HERE.

KANO SITUATION

The PDP has polled a total of 1,014,353 votes ahead of the APC which secured 953,522 votes in the governorship election of the state. The controversy which broke out in Nasarawa LGA delayed the collation. At the end of the collation, the PDP won the local government, polling 54,349 votes to defeat APC which secured 34,297 votes.

IHEDIOHA IS FOUR LGAs AWAY FROM WINNING IMO

PDP's Emeka Ihedioha is only four LGAs away from becoming the next governor of Imo. Of the 23 LGAs announced by INEC, Ihedioha has won eight.
INEC RESUMES COLLATION IN KANO

INEC in Kano state has resumed the collation of the governorship election results. The electoral body had suspended the exercise due to what it called "disturbing report of disrupting collation process at Nassarawa local government by some people that led to the destruction of some election results".


AJIMOBI HAILS MAKINDE'S FEAT

Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo governor, has congratulated Seyi Makinde of the PDP for emerging winner of the governorship election.

He said: "I congratulate you and wish you a successful tenure. I enjoin you to focus on the sustained development of our state in the areas of peace, security, as well as safety of lives and property enjoyed in the last eight years."

BENUE GOES THE 'INCONCLUSIVE' ROUTE

INEC has declared the Benue governorship election inconclusive. Announcing the result, Sabastine Maimako, INEC returning officer, said the “margin of lead is below that of cancelled votes, therefore, the election is hereby declared inconclusive”.


He put the total number of cancelled votes at 121,019 while the margin of victory between Ortom and Jime stood at 81,554 votes.

OKOWA ON RE-ELECTION: I TRUSTED IN THE LORD

Ifeanyi Okowa says he trusted in the Lord to win re-election as Delta governor. Okowa polled 925, 274 votes to defeat Great Ogboru of the APC who scored 215, 938 votes.

He said: “I trusted in the Lord and those who led the campaign also trusted in the Lord. Most especially. I want to appreciate my leader, former governor, Chief James Ibori."

MEET ZULUM, BORNO GOV-ELECT WHO 'WAS A TAXI DRIVER FOR 16 YEARS'
APC's Babagana Zulum has been declared winner of the Borno governorship election. He polled 1,175,440 votes to beat his closest rival, Muhammed Imam of the PDP, who polled 66,115.

Gali INEC, REC in Borno, made the announcement at the governorship election collation centre in Maiduguri.

Zulum famously said he was a commercial driver from 1984 to 1999 and "also drove buses, pickup trucks carrying firewood from forests. Whenever I drove taxis and returned the vehicles to owners, I used what I got for my basic school needs".
