The jury announced its ruling that the weedkiller did cause his cancer and that its manufacturer Monsanto 'acted with malice, oppression or fraud and should be punished for its conduct’. Johnson’s wife works two jobs for 14 hours a day, and was not able to attend court due to her commitments, according to lawyer Brent Wisner. The verdict could open the door to hundreds of further cases, although Monsanto plans to appeal.
