Trump now says Stormy Daniels was paid $130,000 out of private monthly retainer to lawyer Cohen as a 'legal expense' but NOT from campaign funds
Donald Trump claimed Thursday morning that a $130,000 hush-money payment to a porn star who claims to have been his mistress was an ordinary legal expense – part of the costs covered by a monthly retainer agreement between him and his longtime lawyer Michael Cohen. 'Mr. Cohen, an attorney, received a monthly retainer, not from the campaign and having nothing to do with the campaign, from which he entered into, through reimbursement, a private contract between two parties, known as a non-disclosure agreement, or NDA,' Trump wrote in a series of tweets. 'These agreements are very common among celebrities and people of wealth. It comes after Rudy Giuliani, top,the former New York City mayor who is now serving as a Trump legal adviser, revealed Wednesday night that Trump repaid Cohen – but didn't address the president's April 5 statement aboard Air Force One that he knew nothing about it.
