Kate Middleton gives birth to third child: Duchess of Cambridge welcomes baby boy on St George's Day

© PA The Duchess of Cambridge arrives for a symposium of leading academics and charities championing early intervention into the lives of children at the Royal Society of Medicine in London. The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to her third child.

Kate, 36, delivered the baby boy, weighing 8lbs, 7oz, at the exclusive Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, on St George's Day.

Her husband William, 35, was present for the birth, and both mum and baby are "doing well", Kensington Palace said in a statement this afternoon.

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz," the palace said.

"The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

It added: "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."
