Escort, who was 'addicted to Instagram', sobs as she is blasted by a judge for her selfie obsession before being jailed for $21m cocaine smuggling plot

Melina Roberge, 24, sobbed as she was sentenced in a Sydney court on Wednesday for plotting to import $21 million worth of cocaine on board the Sea Princess ship in August 2016. Roberge, who was one of three Canadians arrested over the 95kg (209 pounds) haul - the largest ever drug seizure on a cruise ship docking in Australia - said she was motivated by her addiction to Instagram. During her sentencing, Judge Kate Traill blasted Roberge's social media lifestyle saying she had carried out the drug smuggling plot in the hope of being the 'envy of others'. The judge blamed Roberge's actions on a desire to take selfies 'in exotic locations and post them on Instagram to receive likes and attention'. One of her accomplices, former porn star Isabelle Lagace, was sentenced in November. Andre Tamin, 64, has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced later this year.
