Cristiano Ronaldo grows his legend

Juventus Stadium doesn't often see defeats let alone thrashings, and one would think that any man or team that hands down a disappointing evening would be run out of town. In the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, it was quite different.
With two goals in the Champions League final in Cardiff the last time Real Madrid met the Old Lady, many feared the same outcome in this quarter-final first leg. That was exactly what happened, and then some.
Not only did Ronaldo open the scoring after just three minutes, latching onto a neat cross to make the most of some lax Juve defending, he netted an impossible strike to seal the win on the night and perhaps the tie overall.
It was a goal the player has no doubt dreamed of many times, it is certainly one he has attempted before, and as Gianluigi Buffon had no chance to stop it, a vast bulk of the 42,000 fans inside the arena rose to applaud it.
