Thieves used a stolen digger to tear down a Lidl after looting the supermarket during a blizzard, it was claimed.

More videos posted to social media allegedly show looters rampaging through the shop in Tallaght, Dublin, and helping themselves to goods.

A Lidl spokesman said: 'We are aware of the very serious incident at our Fotunestown Lane store this evening.

'As the store is closed when this incident occurred we can confirm no member of our team has been injured.

'Given that the incident is now the subject of a criminal investigation we are not in a position to comment further at this time.'

They later added: 'As our store on Fortunestown Lane was closed when the incident occurred this evening, we can confirm no member of our team has been injured.'
