After his lavish wedding in Uyo back in December 2017, an oil and gas man was sentenced to 7-years imprisonment yesterday, for the rape of an 18-year-old student in Aberdeen.
The man identified as Kufre Umoh Uwem, 34, of 6 Waterton Lawn, Stoneywood, Aberdeen, reportedly held the woman down against her will in his flat before going ahead to rape her.
Uwem was also convicted of a second as he reportedly tried to rape another woman in her flat. The offences were committed on October 18, 2012, and October 30, 2016, at flats in Aberdeen.Judge Lord Arthurson told Uwem: “This was a course of violent and predatory sexual offending, notwithstanding the four years between the two offenses.”
Uwem’s first victim was a first-year student whom he met by chance and invited to his flat where he raped her and according to the young lady the rape had “a monumental impact on her life”. Uwem’s second victim was attacked in her own home whom he removed her lower clothing with intent to rape her.
Lord Arthurson told him: “The consequences are truly catastrophic for you.” Uwem, has an MSc in pipe engineering and has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
