Austin bomber 'blows himself up' with sixth device as police close in after they trace him to a hotel - after releasing CCTV of suspect posting two devices at FedEx office
The Austin bomber has been shot dead by police and FBI agents as they tried to arrest him in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Officers 'engaged' the man in the Round Rock area before a pursuit began during which another device was detonated, local media reports. A volley of gunfire then broke out along Interstate 35 (top and bottom left), with Austin police reporting an officer-involved shooting. It comes as CCTV images emerged showing the bombing suspect dropping off two devices at a south Austin FedEx office on Sunday evening (main). One of the packages subsequently exploded on a conveyor belt at a FedEx facility (top and bottom right) while the other was later found to contain another bomb. Two people were killed and six injured in a series of bombings in the city, starting on March 2.
