Lupita Nyong’o, Hollywood actress, will feature in the film adaptation of ‘Born A Crime’, a book written by Trevor Noah, a South African comedian.
‘Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood’ is an autobiographical comedy book.
In the biopic, Nyong’o will portray Patricia, mother of ‘The Daily Show With Trevor Noah’ host.Patricia was jailed and fined for giving birth to Noah, an interracial baby, under the rule of apartheid in South Africa.
Nyong’o, who featured prominently in Marvel blockbuster ‘Black Panther’, announced her new gig in an Instagram post on Thursday.
The Kenyan actress wrote: “When I read Trevor Noah’s “Born A Crime,” I could not put the book down. Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation.”
‘Born a Crime’ was published by Spiegel & Grau in 2016 and has won the James Thurber Prize for American humour.
In 2013, Nyong’o won an Academy Award for her role in ’12 Years a Slave’.
She will produce and star in the movie adaptation of ‘Americanah’, Chimamanda Adichie’s award-winning bestseller.
