‘I only shoplifted because I lost my call centre job and haven't worked for a year’ moans 19-year-old who punched the air after walking free from court over £760 Harvey Nichols theft spree
Shameless Nafisa Akhtar, 19, raised her arm in celebration (pictured) as she left Manchester Magistrates’ Court despite admitting a £760 shoplifting spree at Harvey Nichols with her friend Anashra Ali, 18. The jobless pair had the words of magistrate Suzanne O'Connell ringing in their ears after she told them to ‘get a job’ and asked Akhtar: ‘When was the last time you worked? Why haven't you worked since?’ Since then Akhtar has responded by claiming she's 'worked all of her life' and only stopped working last year when the call centre she worked for shut down. The teenager says she is going to become a hairdresser now.
