Shop Santas reveal how greedy children and indulgent parents have killed the true spirit of Christmas and make their jobs a nightmare

Ron, who lives at the North Pole (or Luton, depending on who’s asking) really does remember the days when a child was thrilled to find an orange in their Christmas stocking. But he has had to become terrifyingly up-to-date about modern devices, fast. But he doesn’t blame the children. No. It’s the parents he criticises. He’s adamant that children are spoiled by getting too many presents. Long-serving Santas, Ray Hulse, 73, and Ken Moxley, 72 (our trio have around 140 years of Ho Ho Ho-ing between them) have similarly bleak tales to impart.
