It is a traditional event where the Royals meet excited members of the public – often people who come back year after year.
However the Royals also attend an earlier, more reflective church service before they meet the public.

Huge crowds of people have already gathered outside in the cold, ready to catch glimpses of Royal family as they carry out their celebrations.
The Duke of Edingburgh earlier arrived to join Her Majesty for the first service, as has Prince Charles along with Camilla.
Princess Anne and Princess Beatrice, wrapped up warm, have also arrived at Sandringham.

Harry, Meghan, William and Kate appeared to skip the early morning service, but are present for the main one today.
As for the rest of the day's itinerary, lunch is served at 1pm and there is a giant Norfolk turkey, reared at Sandringham.
Meghan has already broken tradition by attending Christmas at Sandringham with the Queen before she and Harry are married.
