Labour MP Chuka Umunna says UK does NOT 'legally' have to leave EU

THE UNITED Kingdom is not "legally" bound to leave the European Union as the Brexit manifesto is "impossible" to deliver, Labour MP Chuka Umunna has claimed.

The Remainer said Brexit did not ultimately have to happen as the British Government is not "legally" obligated to deliver it.

Mr Umunna said: "I think we need to have a very open mind about what happens at the end of this process. There’s nothing inevitable about Brexit.

"We don’t legally have to do this. We are entitled to have an open mind about it."
We don’t legally have to do this. We are entitled to have an open mind about it

Speaking to BBC News, the Labour politician also claimed British voters should be able to change their minds about Brexit as "hard facts" reveal the negative effects of leaving the EU.

He said: "Who would have thought that the Good Friday Agreement, the Northern Ireland peace process, would be impacted by Brexit?

"This was simply not something people knew and that’s because in 2016 we were having a hypothetical debate about what would happen if we voted to leave the European Union. Now we’ve got the hard facts.

"Now that we’ve actually got the hard facts as these talks progress, it’s just proving impossible to deliver."
