Female zookeeper is mauled by a tiger and left fighting for life before horrify visitors throw rocks to scare it away in Russia

The 16-year-old male tiger, called Typoon, attacked a young female zookeeper at Kaliningrad Zoo after part of its cage was accidentally left open while she went to feed it. Horrified visitors watched as the animal pounced and mauled her, but managed to distract it by throwing sticks, stones and even a table and chairs so the keeper could escape. She is now in critical condition in hospital but is expected to survive her ordeal.
