British tourist who has been locked up for more than a month after bringing painkillers into Egypt could stand trial on CHRISTMAS DAY

EXCLUSIVE: Laura Plummer (left), who has already spent more than six weeks behind bars after being arrested in the Red Sea resort of Hurghada, was told she will face a judge on the holiday date. As a Muslim country, Egypt does not celebrate Christmas Day and it is considered a normal working day. The 33-year-old shop worker’s family have been told about the court date by her Hurghada based lawyer. Plummer was arrested on October 9th when almost 300 Tramadol painkiller pills were found in her luggage. She claimed they were for her husband Omar Caboo (pictured right, with Ms Plummer) to help him cope with a back injury he suffered in a car crash two years ago.
