Asylum seeker Uber driver said he murdered his two young children with a petrol-soaked cloth during a downstairs sleepover because he was 'struggling make enough money to support them'


Jurors heard taxi driver Endris Mohammed, 47 (right and court sketch inset), attempted to murder his partner, Penil Teklehaimanot, by tampering with a gas pipe and setting fire to the family home in Hamstead, Birmingham. Emergency services rushed to the couple's home in following a blaze at the property in Handsworth, Birmingham, at around 3.30am on October 28 last year. The lifeless bodies of the children were dragged outside by their mother who thought they were asleep when they were actually in cardiac arrest. Saros, who was eight and six-year-old Leanor (both left) were declared dead at Sandwell General Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital at 4.53am and 4.54am.
