Jamaican track and field athlete #UsainBolt ended the final race of his career tonight after succumbing to a leg injury which also prevented him from finishing the race. During the 4×100 relay tonight, the top sprinter in the world collapsed to the ground and tumbled forward after catching a cramp in his left hamstring with only about 60 meters left to go.The Jamaican team doctor offered more insight into what happened. “It’s a cramp in his left hamstring, but a lot of the pain is from disappointment from losing the race,” Kevin Jones said. “The last three weeks have been hard for him, you know. We hope for the best for him.”
It was definitely upsetting as no one expected for Bolt’s career to end in this way and his teammates were crushed. Nonetheless, they suggest that his legacy will live on. “Usain Bolt’s name will always live on,” Omar McLeod said.
Great Britain went on the win the race while Jamaica was left with a “Did Not Finish” printed next to their names.
