Rihanna and Jay-Z were reportedly escorted away from the V Festival site on Sunday night due to a security breach.

Following an altercation that had taken place in a backstage bar, the global superstars were rushed to safety and taken to a nearby helicopter to 'avoid' finding themselves caught up in the rowdy situation.

It comes after Rihanna revealed that she had secretly snuck into the festival, unbeknownst to fans, to watch her close pal Jay-Z's headlining set in Chelmsford, Essex.

According to The Sun, a 'serious' situation broke out in Tape nightclub's backstage area, where up to 20 'emergency support officers' had descended onto the scene, following a group of men forcing their way in.
Security acted quickly to clear the area, with a source telling the paper: 'It was terrifying. One man smacked a steward in the mouth twice.... no one knew what to do and security completely lost control.'

They had attempted to tackle the men who had forced their way into the backstage area, swiftly removing them. However, festival-goers were left 'scared' as a result of the chaos that had ensued - including tables being thrown - after Jay-Z's performance on the main stage of the Hylands Park site.

Reports detailing Jay-Z and Rihanna's swift exit from the musical event came after Rihanna revealed she had managed to sneak into the festival to support her friend Jay-Z.

They are known to be firm friends and have even collaborated with each other musically on multiple occasions, so it's no surprise the Rude Boy singer pulled out all the stops to see him perform - detailing her night on Instagram for fans.

After managing to secure her spot backstage - and with a great view of Jay-Z performing to the huge crowds in front of her - Rihanna revealed her backstage spot.

She filmed a slew of videos for her Instagram story on the photo-sharing app and was heard singing along to the rapper's famous tracks, while recording Jay-Z as he put on an animated performance.
