Backstreet hire firms are abusing easy credit to obtain high performance cars and loan them to criminals, police said last night. Officers want to smash the lucrative trade which allows dangerous young drivers to get behind the wheel of supercars for just a few hundred pounds. They have discovered small firms are obtaining prestige cars including Lamborghinis, Porsches, Audis and BMWs on personal contract plans. They are then illicitly rented out for up to £600 a day to customers including cash rich crooks who want to travel under the radar.
