‘DEADPOOL 2’ STUNT FATALITY VICTIM IDENTIFIED AS JOI HARRIS, THE FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN FEMALE PROFESSIONAL ROAD RACER

The cast and crew of #Deadpool 2 are mourning the loss of #JoiHarris on set over the weekend. Harris was the first African-American female professional road racer and the this was her first film as a stunt woman.
Witnesses say that Joi lost control of her motorcycle and crashed through a window at Shaw Tower on West Waterfront Road near Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver. Production of the movie ended immediately and it is not yet clear when it will resume.
Another source told Deadline that Joi practiced for “two full days” over the weekend and did a run-through of the stunt “five-plus times before filming.” Unfortunately, the motorcycle appeared to accelerate instead of slowing down as Joi turned corner on the last take. She also was not wearing a helmet since her character was not wearing one in that scene.
