40-year 'dictator,' President Kevin Baugh, rules over 33 citizens (including dogs) of the micronation he established, complete with its own rules, border control, traditions and currency

President Kevin Baugh has been the dictator of Molossia - his very own micronation in Nevada - for 40 years. He's written the governing rules and built up a 'sovereign' state that includes its own buildings, passport control (main, right, and inset, center), currency (inset, bottom left) and traditions. Together with his First Lady, daughter (main, left), other family members and citizens - including a few dogs - he happily hosts visitors curious to see what life is like in a micronation within the United States
  • Baugh and a high school friend came up with the idea for a micronation in 1977, and President Baugh has been ruling for four decades
  • A micronation is a tiny self-declared sovereign country that is not officially recognized by the legitimate governments of the world
  • He currently resides in Molossia - geographically located in Nevada - with his wife, two of their children and four dog citizens
  • The rest of Molossia's citizens - comprised mainly of relatives - are 'ex pats' living outside of its borders who occasionally visit
  • Tourists can visit Molossia and see its store, library, cemetery, decorative tower and other features
  • Molossia citizens still pay US taxes, which they call 'foreign aid;' Baugh says that 'then they leave us alone'
