William and Kate demand £1.3million from French magazine for pictures of topless Princess which he says were 'more painful' because of memories of his mother Diana
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have demanded the equivalent of £1.3million from those responsible for taking and selling topless photos of Kate. Their French barrister, Jean Veil (inset), made the request on the first day of a criminal trial in the Paris suburb of Nanterre in which six defendants are on trial. Mr Veil told the town's Correctional Court that both William and Kate had suffered massively from the sneak long-lens pictures taken while they were on holiday in the south of France in 2012. Prince William and his wife Kate were on holiday in southern France at the time at a chateau (bottom) owned by Viscount David Linley, the son of Princess Margaret, the late sister of the Queen. The Duke and Duchess (top) have personally asked for the £1.3million from Closer magazine and £42,000 from La Provence, both of which published the pictures.
