Theresa May WINS Brexit Bill votes in her showdown with peers but E-Day will NOT be tomorrow as No 10 insists Article 50 won't be triggered until the end of March

Theresa May has won two crucial votes on the Brexit Bill in her showdown with peers tonight, paving the way for her to get power over Article 50 tomorrow. MPs followed orders to delete an amendment on guaranteeing the rights of EU nationals, backing the Government 335 to 287, majority 48. MPs also defeated the second amendment on the timetabling of votes at the end of the negotiation. Peers will be invited to agree with the deletions later tonight but however the debate goes Mrs May will not trigger Article 50 tomorrow. No 10 today denied the Prime Minister had been spooked by Nicola Sturgeon's shock announcement of plans for a second independence referendum.
