The Donald reboots his presidency in first Congress speech with a condemnation of hatred, a call for an end to 'trivial fights' and a heartbreaking appearance by widow of SEAL hero whose father snubbed him

The new president makes his first mission-critical trip to the Capitol for an address to a joint session of Congress, channeling Kennedy's rhetoric but telling both houses to pass his agenda. He and the First Lady left the White House half an hour before the start of the prime time address, making the journey down Pennsylvania Avenue ahead of a speech which is the most important of his fledgling presidency. 'We just need the courage to share the dreams that fill our hearts, the bravery to express the hopes that stir our souls, and the confidence to turn those hopes and dreams to action,' he will say. With him in Congress are his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared, one of his most senior advisers, as well as guests he has hand-picked who include the widow of Justice Antonin Scalia. Back on earth and away from the speechwriter's sweep, the president will call on Congress to 'increase funding for our veterans,' pass 'historic tax reform' for middle-class Americans, make good on his campaign pledge to 'repeal and replace Obamacare,' help soften the financial burden of child care, and 'help ensure new parents have paid family leave.'
