GETTYHe made the comments as the camera panned over William and Kate who were watching the match
BBC presenter John Inverdale was criticsed by angry viewers during yesterday's Wales v France match after he implied that Kate Middleton did not understand the rules of rugby.
As the camera panned to the Duchess of Cambridge as she watched the exciting game with husband Prince William, John made the "shameful" comments. The 59-year-old was heard telling his co-host: "I don't know exactly how au fait with the rules Kate is, but I assume she must have been struggling a bit in the last 20 minutes."
John added: "And she wasn't alone."
Angry viewers took to Twitter to criticise the commentator, branding his remarks sexist and suggesting he retire.
