Terror in Barcelona as police fire at driver as he speeds the wrong way down a motorway in stolen truck carrying gas cylinders

Officers are said to have opened fire as the man was driving the lorry along the Roda del Litoral towards the heart of Barcelona in Spain. The vehicle, carrying dozens of butane canisters, rammed several cars before it was finally stopped on one of the road's exits (centre, right and inset). A Swedish man identified as Joakim Robin Berggren (left) has reportedly been arrested and Spain's counter-terror unit has launched an investigation into the incident. Eyewitnesses said the driver 'laughed and made offensive gestures' when terrified passers-by were screaming at him to stop.
