It turns out couples that train together don’t just stay together, but they also have the hottest sex lives.
According to a new study almost half (43%) of lovers confessed to experiencing better bedroom action if took part in physical activities together.
Research shows that couples who get active together feel that it has a positive impact on their relationship.
The survey, from Sykes Cottages, revealed that 56% of Brits believe working up a sweat with their significant other increases their overall affections for them.
A third (36%) think it gives them more energy to do other things, just under a fifth (19%) say it increases their sex drive, while one in ten (8%) say it makes them feel more adventurous in the bedroom.
Researchers also found that getting your pulse racing can cause less arguments and more laughs.
Couples admitted that bouts of exercise helps them to talk to each other more while building trust in the relationship.
Uncovering what coupled up Brits think is the most romantic activity to do this Valentine’s Day, the poll found that a weekend break in the country took the top spot.
This was followed closely by a candle-lit meal at a restaurant and a weekend city break.
Leading psychologist Donna Dawson said: “Indiana Jones got it right, adventure leads to romance.
“Any physical activity where you have to work together as a couple, strive for a goal, prove your prowess and endure a degree of fear or excitement releases hormones that encourage bonding, loyalty and trust.
“Add to that increased self-esteem and ‘couple pride’ in an activity enjoyed and successfully completed and you have the perfect opportunity for a multitude of good feelings to channel themselves into romance, affection, better sex and more.”
