Asghar Farhadi, the Oscar-nominated director of the movie The Salesman, reportedly won’t be able to attend the 2017 Academy Awards happening next month due to President Donald Trump’s “Muslim ban.”
The United States President, is refusing access to the United States for people from seven Muslim countries. There is an indefinite ban for everyone from Syria and there is a 90-day ban on visas for people from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Farhadi, who hails from Iran, is already an Oscar winner after his movie A Separation won the award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2012. He’s nominated again this year in the same category for The Salesman.
