German police have seized 155 kilograms of explosives and an improvised explosive device marked with a swastika and SS signs having detained two men in Lauterecken are believed to have neo-Nazi connections.
The men were held after a special forces raid on an apartment in the German town in the south-west of the country.
It is believed that the men may have links to the Syrian Jaber Albakar, 22, who fled the authorities on Saturday during the operation concerning a suspected bomb plot.
The local police tweeted: “Highly explosive materials were found in the apartment concerned in Chemnitz, new evacuation measures are necessary.”
The apartment was raided after local authorities received a tip from Germany’s domestic intelligence agency that the suspect may be hiding out there and possibly plotting a bomb attack.
However when the police arrived no was in the apartment.
