A warm welcome! Michelle Obama wears maroon dress and a smile as she embraces Melania Trump and invites her into the White House(photos)

They're here: The Obamas welcomed the Trumps to the White House this morning

Michelle Obama joined her husband Barack Obama to graciously welcome the Trumps to the White House early this morning.

The First Lady wore a belted short-sleeve maroon dress as she and the 44th President stepped outside to greet the new First Family.

Michelle, 53, warmly welcomed her successor, 46, wrapping an arm around her waist as the two couples posed for the camera.

They seemed like old friend as they chatted while Melania's husband waited near her shoulder

Michelle, in a tasteful tea-length frock and pointy-toe heels, stood beside her husband — who completed their red, white, and blue combo in a dark suit and blue tie — as they waited for the Trumps to pull up shortly after 9:30am.

The First Lady has been known for her classic fit-and-flare dresses throughout her husband's eight years in office, and she chose to go out in a similar look in her go-to style.

Melania, meanwhile, was more bundled up, having just come from church. The incoming First Lady was greeted while wearing a light blue Ralph Lauren Collection cashmere coat, which was offset by her own husband's red tie. She also wore Ralph Lauren Collection suede gloves and a cashmere mock turtleneck dress.

Michelle and Melania embraced warmly on the front steps, keeping their arms around each other's backs as they stood and smiled for the cameras.

Later, Michelle draped a maroon coat over her dress to head to the Inauguration

Classy: Melania seemed to be checking out Michelle's maroon dress and the two ladies wore matching updos

Barack Obama also embraced Melania and kissed her on the cheek as Michelle greeted Donald Trump

Both women wore huge diamond studs in their ears, shown off all the better by their piled-up hair

They had an animated conversation — all unheard by the cameras — before stepping inside

Michelle seemed to be imparting welcoming words with a smile as the momentous occasion was caught on camera.

The two First Ladies appeared to have a much warmer moment than their husbands, who stood stiffly side-by-side without touching as their wives hung more comfortably together.

Though the two Presidents shared a hearty handshake soon after Trump exited his car — and both Michelle and Barack kissed Melania on the cheek in greeting — it appeared as thought women were more at ease with each other.

As the two couples headed into the White House, Michelle and Barack both offered a helpful hand on Melania's back to steady her on her heels as she walked through the door.

The wardrobe memo for the day must have read something about matching dresses and coats, because later Michelle draped a maroon wool coat over her dress, creating the perfect coordinated ensemble.
