Donald hits out at Republicans deserting him and tries to turn the tables on Clinton: Trump attacks 'self-righteous hypocrites' condemning his hot mic tape comments and tweets Bill rape claims ahead of crunch debate

Donald Trump sent out a tweet on Sunday morning thanking his backers for their 'tremendous support'. But the Republican presidential nominee acknowledged the dozens of Republicans who have denounced him following the release of a 2005 hot mic incident in which he made lewd comments about women. 'Tremendous support (except for some Republican "leadership"). Thank you,' Trump wrote. Notably, Republican Speaker Paul Ryan disinvited Trump to a Wisconsin event, which caused Trump supporters to heckle the rally. This latest tweet comes after a new poll from Politico shows that a majority of Republican voters - 74 per cent - want Trump to stay in the race. Trump spent most of Saturday inside Trump Tower, only making one appearance to greet supporters (pictured, top) as his campaign dealt with the fallout from the tapes.
