Boy, 16, who hoped to get an iPad after finishing school with a perfect 100% attendance record for FIVE YEARS is awarded a PEN instead

Sam Stannard (left), of Brighton, missed no lessons for five years - sacrificing family holidays and battling through colds to maintain his 100 per cent record. Despite being entered into a prize draw each year for students who achieved a perfect attendance record, he never won the coveted prize - an Apple iPad. Now Sam admits he regrets missing out on skiing trips with his family after the school gave him a certificate and fountain pen (centre) to mark his achievement. And his father Lee (pictured right, with Sam and his wife Julie) believes teachers should have given his son the iPad at this year's award ceremony held by Portslade Aldridge Community Academy.
