Shot dead as he walked backwards with hands at his side: Charlotte police finally release Keith Scott shooting videos and say cop fired at him because his 'movements were perceived as an imminent physical threat'

Charlotte police have released bodycam and dashcam footage showing the moment Keith Lamont Scott was shot dead by an officer outside an apartment building. The short clip of the dash-cam video shows Scott exiting his car and slowly walking backwards with his hands at his side. The body-cam video, which is not on officer Brentley Vinson who fired the fatal shots, shows an unidentified officer approaching the back of Scott's white vehicle before Scott is shot and heard groaning on the ground. Police chief Kerr Putney said in a press conference the footage released explains 'the absolute facts' of the shooting, and that there was a 'compelling reason' for officers to shot Scott. 'These are the specific footage that gives you some visual of what has transpired,' Chief Putney told reporters. 'There was a compelling reason for them to make this encounter, it was beyond having a gun... he absolutely was in possession of a gun.
