Drake celebrates Rihanna's latest achievement with sweet billboard sign

Drake surprised Rihanna on Friday after purchasing a billboard sign to congratulate her on the news that she is to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The award honours artists who have made a huge cultural impact, with Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé and Kanye West among its recipients. The Umbrella singer shared a snap of the amazing gesture on
Instagram, much to the delight of fans of the pair.

The sign read: "Congratulations to Rihanna from Drake and everyone at OVO," in cursive writing, and the 28-year-old couldn't resist sharing a snap of the sign, jokily captioning her post: "When he extra," accompanied by love heart and trophy emojis.
Fans took to Twitter to express their delight at the pair's relationship, with one person writing: "Drake congratulated Rihanna on a billboard like.....please do not speak to me until further notice," while another person tweeted: "I want somebody to put my name on a billboard."

However, fans also began a heated discussion about Rhianna's jokey reaction to the gesture, with one tweeting: "Drake pulled such a romantic gesture and all Rihanna had to say is that he's extra," with a crying emoji, while another wrote: "what a historical day. I'm getting 'when he extra' tattooed on me."

Rihanna and Drake are currently rumoured to be dating, with a source telling E! News back in June: "He still loves her and never stopped. Rihanna is the one that's been not wanting to settle down in the past.

"They are having fun spending time with each other. Their music together got them close again."
