Shocking moment bike gang mounts the kerb to snatch a pedestrian's mobile... but they drop the phone and he just shrugs, smiles and carries on browsing

The would-be thieves on a scooter (one) mounted the pavement to try to steal a man's mobile phone (two). At the last moment, one of the riders reached out to grab the mobile (three) - but failed to take hold of it, with the smartphone instead falling to the floor (four). As the Vespa moped drove away, another pair were also spotted on a scooter, apparently keeping look-out further ahead (circled, five). But after the attempted drive-by theft in Muswell Hill, north London, the mobile phone user shrugged off the incident.
