Saying your prayers, Jeremy? Angela Eagle announces she WILL stand against Corbyn after embattled leader's peace talks with unions collapse
The party's deputy leader, Tom Watson, has cancelled the talks because there is 'no realistic prospect of reaching a compromise' as Mr Corbyn (pictured left) said he would continue 'come what may'. The discussions were meant to be between Mr Corbyn and union chiefs after the embattled leader refused to stand down. Within an hour of the news Angela Eagle (right) said she would announce a bid for the leadership of the party on Monday. Supporters of the Labour MP for Wallasey and former shadow home secretary think she would appeal to more centre-ground voters than Mr Corbyn. But speaking today, Mr Corbyn insisted he was 'very happy' and called on the Labour Party to 'come together'.
