Aristocrat's son plans to bury his mother in 4ft hole in his garden because of the 'outrageous' £5,300 funeral fees...
John Wright said he has started digging a grave for his late 101-year-old mother Lady Margaret Johnson after being told he would need to pay £5,300 for her send-off. Rather than stump up the 'enormous' fees, Mr Wright, 71, said he will dig a 4ft-deep hole at his home in New Milton, Hampshire, where Lady Johnson will be laid to rest. He claims that as an interim measure he may be forced to buy a large fridge to put Lady Johnson's body in to avoid incurring further fees from the funeral directors, who are currently storing it in their mortuary. Lady Johnson, the wife of late High Court judge Sir William Johnson, died last Friday, two years after suffering a severe stroke.
