Thieves snatch tens of thousands of pounds in winning bets from £160k McLaren supercar

© Provided by Birmingham MailA high-rolling punter had tens of thousands of pounds in winning bets stolen as he sat in a £160,000 McLaren supercar in Birmingham city centre .

Two men forced open the door of the distinctive bright orange motor and snatched a bag containing the cash from the passenger seat.

The 52-year-old victim tried to hang onto the bag but the raiders fled after a struggle.

It happened in New Meeting Street in the city centre at about 3.30pm on April 22.

West Midlands Police said a group of young men were seen by the McLaren owner taking selfies next to it before the robbery.

The force said the images could have been put on websites – and the group, who witnessed the crime, may have even pocketed some of the stolen cash.

   © Provided by Birmingham MailInvestigating officer Det Con Laurence Green said: “The car is very distinctive and it’s an unusual crime, however we believe there were a number of people in the area at the time who have not come forward.
“I urge anyone who witnessed the robbery to get in touch.

“I am especially keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may know the identity of the suspects.”

One of the suspects was described as a light-skinned black man, aged between 20 and 22.

He was about 6ft tall, with an athletic build and short black hair, and wore black jeans and a dark top.

The second suspect was a dark skinned black man, aged between 22 and 24, about 5ft 7ins tall and slim with dreadlocked hair.
