Inside the only village in Europe where migrants are BANNED: Switzerland's super rich Oberwil-Lieli where millionaires have voted to reject asylum seekers... and pay a £200,000 fine instead

The picturesque village of Oberwil-Lieli, 10 miles from Zurich, in Switzerland, is the only place in Europe not to accept asylum seekers after its 2,200 residents held a referendum to reject the government's quota to make them take ten refugees. The wealthy village, which has 300 millionaires, seven per cent of its residents voted 52 per cent to 48 per cent against taking the migrants. In doing so the village agreed to pay a fine of £200,000. The fine will be paid through local taxes, which generate £5million a year. Some wealthy individuals have even offered to personally contribute. The decision has polarised opinion. Oberwil-Lieli's outspoken right wing mayor Andreas Glarner told MailOnline: He told MailOnline: 'The rejection was a protest at the quota being imposed on us by the Government.'
