Packed together in the gardens of the Muslim Heritage Centre, in the Manchester suburb of Whalley range, mourners from across the country turned out in their hundreds to pay tribute to three young men who had their lives cut short (pictured and bottom left). Travelling home after celebrating a
family wedding, friends Hamzaa Iqbal (inset centre), Munib Afzal Karim (inset right) and Hamza Gujjar (inset left), died after the Audi S5 they were travelling in crashed in Manchester (pictured top left). Hamzaa, 24, from Burnage, and Hamza, 20 from Bramhall, were pronounced dead at the scene, while Munib, 21, from Stockport, died in hospital from his injuries the following day. The number of mourners wishing to pay their respects to the young men was so great that the funeral service had to be held at two sites. Women attended the Islamic prayer or Salat al-Janazah at the mosque, while men attended a separate ceremony at the heritage centre.
