Duchess of Cambridge wears chic cape and stunning Bhutanese skirt to meet the King and Queen dubbed 'William and Kate of the Orient'
The British Royals were greeted at the Thimpu Dzong, an ancient fortress overlooking the Bhutanese capital of Thimphu, by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck (left inset) and his wife Jetsun Pema who is known as the 'Kate Middleton of the Himalayas' (centre). As they entered the spectacular building (right inset), Kate and William were preceded by dozens of dancers and musicians in colourful national dress to the sounds of Buddhist chanting. Kate wore a stunning skirt (centre and right) that had been sourced in Bhutan and woven by local weaver Kelzan Wangmo before being brought back to London where it was made up to her specifications. She paired it with a £340 Paul and Joe cape (left) and her hair swept into an elegant half up, half down style due to the blustery conditions. The ceremony, known as a Chipdrel, was one only the most colourful Royal entrances ever seen on an official tour.
