Merkel vows to stick to open-door migration policy after crushing election defeat which gave far-Right party big gains


Pressure is growing on the German chancellor, main, after her Christian Democrats suffered humiliating losses in regional elections in Germany with many blaming her policy on migration. It prompted her spokesman to confirm today that Mrs Merkel would not be changing her policy on migrants despite the crushing defeat. It came as the CDU lost ground to the anti-immigrant AfD - Alternative for Germany - party, led by Eurosceptic Frauke Petry, inset.
