Mike Freeman, from Essex, was just 50 yards from the finish line in the popular seaside town of
Sliema when he collapsed. The 55-year-old died shortly after arriving at Mater Dei Hospital. Tributes to Mr Freeman, who worked at a local school, soon began to flood in. His wife Nicola wrote: 'One of our last words were about running up to the finish and how lovely it would be to see you all there. He joked next year eh! Devastated xxxx'
