Irish underworld turns out for funeral of Dublin gangster executed at boxing match weigh-in

Dozens of armed police led a massive security operation in central Dublin as David Byrne, 34, was laid to rest after he was shot dead during a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel ten days ago by a six strong gang including a man dressed as a woman. Today's funeral was attended by the feared Kinahan brothers, Chris Jnr and Daniel, who jetted back to Ireland yesterday - but without father Christy, known as the 'Irish Godfather'. Senior gangsters including 'Fat' Freddie Thompson were also at the event. During the Mass priest Martin Dolan told mourners that gangster Byrne was a loving father and parent with a big sense of humour.
