51-year-old actor Chris Rock is the cover star of the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter.
In it he talks about the backlash for hosting the upcoming 2016 Oscars, who was actually supposed to host it and more.
See excerpts below.
On who was supposed to host: “And let’s not get it twisted: I’m only here because Ellen said no.”
On deciding to host: “I told my agent I wanted to present because it’s like, what’s easier and better than presenting? You come in, do something really funny and get out of there. But it just seemed like a good time. I hadn’t [hosted] in a while, and I’m in between projects.”
On his favorite past Oscars host: “Steve Martin wanting to be funny is about as funny as a human being can get.”
