Anti-migrant mobs cheer and try to stop firefighters getting to planned refugee shelter as it goes up in flames in Germany

A 'disgusting' drunken mob applauded and cheered as a fire (pictured left) destroyed a planned refugee shelter in eastern Germany overnight, raising fears of a new wave of violence towards migrants. Police in Bautzen, Saxony, said bystanders who witnessed the fire made 'derogatory remarks' and showed 'unashamed joy' at the inferno as firefighters worked furiously to douse the blaze (the aftermath of which is pictured today top and bottom right). Their actions, widely condemned by German politicians and leaders, have sparked fears of a new wave of anti-migrant violence from the extreme right.
