Adam Johnson's ex-Sunderland teammates refused to give evidence on his behalf at his trial after he pleaded guilty to kissing a 15-year-old girl

It is understood that players including Steven Fletcher (inset) had been due to give evidence on Johnson's behalf in the trial. But they are no longer going to do so after he changed his pleas on charges of grooming and sexual activity with a 15-year-old, relating to kissing the girl. The court heard how Johnson was texting his girlfriend Stacey Flounders (pictured, right, today) telling her not to be 'paranoid at the same time as messaging the schoolgirl about sex.
