Snow from Scotland to London TONIGHT: Britain to be blanketed with 100-mile wide corridor stretching the length of the country as mercury hits -10C - but the fun has already started for some!

Britain got a dumping of the white stuff overnight and forecasters revealed up to three more inches could fall from western Scotland to London tonight in a 100-mile wide swathe that will see temperatures plunge to as low as -10C. Forecasters say the shock weather comes as a knock-on effect of Hurricane Alex in the Atlantic, which is pushing mild air from the west into conflict with cold air coming from the east, causing an outbreak of snow. It means there will be two bouts over London within three days as experts believe a weather system bound for the capital on Monday will still come in regardless of the current conditions. Walkers enjoy the weather today, left in Pen Y Fan, South Wales, while, right, girls go sledding in the Brecon Beacons.
